I am shocked every time somebody tells me he does not believe that Twitter or Facebook will ever make any money. You must be faithful, I answer. If you have millions of people who are addicted to you, who need you, who come to your site (or to your data) every day, you will surely make money. It doesn’t matter how. You will make it for sure. So how? These are some ideas.
1. Premium services. Facebook can charge a certain amount to some users, as Flickr does to those who need more storage space.
2. Direct marketing charges. That’s so clear, it does not need any explanation. Remember it’s Facebook who owns the inboxes.
3. Advertising. Facebook is already using this. I know its users don’t click on the ads so much, but Facebook is more like TV than like a search engine. It should be paid by brand generation and not on clicks. Its users are so worried about communicating that they don’t want to be disturbed by any advertising message.
4. Selling virtual gifts. This is a big market which is ready to develop. In the future, we will give many virtual presents. As people start spending as much time on Facebook as in the streets, they will need virtual clothes besides real ones.
5. Market research. Surveys will never be made on the phone any more. It’s just too expensive. Facebook is much more efficient.

you can certainly make money out of facebook, you just need to be resourceful, creative and patient. you can make pages to spread the word out. all social networking sites are great marketing tool, it just depends on how you use them to your advantage; in fact, twitter proves to bring high conversions.
I’ve run ads on Facebook several times and they always get enough clicks to meet the daily budget. People on Facebook do click. But the problem is the ads are VERY expensive to run — sometimes as much as 50 cents a click. That adds up fast when you’re trying to build up a page with lots of members. But because the ads are so expensive, I agree with you completely. Facebook *is* making money.
I totally agree with you. Facebook is visited by millions of people every day; the amount of money it can make is literally limitless. I heard on the radio the other day that the number 1 most visited site in the entire world is Facebook! It’s so huge it even outranks Google! And that poses an incredible advantage to affiliate marketers. If you want to get started, Gerladine, Facebook is your best bet.
Facebook applications! Who hasnt heard of Mafia Wars or FarmTown? Apps are addicting and can be a huge source of income. You do not need to compete with the Big Boys as there are plenty of users to go around.
What you need is a unique idea.
I offer a turnkey virtual gift application that allows users to send virtual gifts to their friends. My clients can add any type of gift they can imagine would be popular and earn revenue from displaying banner ads.

Is it simply just myself or is this online marketing, work from home, make money on the web etc etc a massive scam for you to get mugs just like me fired up? Get paid $1000’s, quit your full time employment as well as more fake claims! Everyone wanting cash and offering nothing in return, most of it the same old B.S. Is the only worthwhile market, the actual market that attracts mugs such as me in order to invest $1000’s on studying just how to profit on the net? You need to tell me I am drastically wrong and direct me to the right place. I know somebody must know, is it you? Please tell!
I absolutely agree! These social networking sites rake in millions form their, well, millions of registered users. But hey, it’s not a one-way street. We can earn from these social networking sites as well. They are a growing community, one with millions of new registered users every month, there are tons of money-making opportunities there. Build a massive list of targeted buyers and you can be making easy cash in no time. Invest your time learning how to make money with social networking sites and it will be a time well spent. I should know. I’m earning from it.
Making a “premium” version of Facebook sounds like a dodgy idea, considering that they constantly state that Facebook will forever be free to use. I’m pretty sure that Facebook also uses people’s information for marketing purposes, which resulted in that controversy about privacy settings.
I imagine that Facebook would die a quick, painful death if it ever starting charging people for the service. Internet users are use to and expect free use of social media.
